This is the main announcements page for the C.P. English 12 course.  This page will be updated daily with announcements from each days lessons.  

       If you are absent, you MUST check this page before returning to school.  You will be held responsible for everything on this page.  If you do not have readily available internet access at home, you may use the public library, the school library, or ask a friend to access the internet for you.  Be sure to also use Skyward to keep up to date with grades

Check the announcements, but first, visit the class wall!

Day 46: November 1, 2012

1. Today we completed our final literature circle.  If you were absent, you will need to complete the make-up assignment.

2.  No homework for tomorrow.  We will introduce our Canterbury Tales Wrap-Up assignment.

3. Next week will mark our Timed Essay for The Hobbit.  Save your Literature Circles!


Day 45: October 31, 2012

1. Today marks the penultimate day in the 1st Nine Weeks.  We completed our exam.  Tomorrow is our final literature circle.

1. Today we had a class discussion on the cultural differences between men and women:  Specifically, what is it about the opposite gender that students found to be annoying.

2.  For the rest of the period, we read "The Wife of Bath's Tale" and completed the front of the attached worksheet.

3. For tomorrow, complete the worksheet if not done in class.  Finish The Hobbit for Thursday.

Day 41-42: October 25-26, 2012

1.  On Thursday (or Friday for pd. 6), we completed our third literature circle.

2.  The final Literature Circle will occur next Thursday as the book is completed.

3.  Friday (or Thursday for pd. 6) is a Reading Day for those students not taking the PSSA Science Make-Up

1. Today we completed the Presentations for the Canterbury Tales Pilgrims

2. The rest of the class was used to prepare for the coming Literature Circle on Monday and Thursday.

3. Prepare for a quiz on Monday on Ch. 6-8 on the Hobbit.

1. Today we conducted the Pilgrim's Presentation.  Students showed their images, talked about their pilgrims and took notes.

2.  For the remaining time, students continued to read The Hobbit in preparation of the second Literature Circle.

2.  We watched some sample speeches and discussed what makes a good speech and what to avoid.

3. Speeches will begin on Wednesday.  You will have today and Monday to work on the speech outlines.  When you present, you need to printed copies (One for you and one for me)

1. Today we reviewed our findings from Part 1 of Beowulf (pg. 38-45).  We discussed the elements of Grendel and Beowulf's backgrounds as well as Anglo-Saxon culture and religious values.

2. Today we listened to Part 2 of Beowulf "The Battle with Grendel".  Afterwards we completed the partner activity.

3. For homework read the sections entitled "The Battle with Grendel's Mother".  Be prepared for a quiz tomorrow.
