Day 1 Activity

Day 22-25: September 28-30, 2016

1. On Wednesday, we wrapped up class with a "tableau" assignment, summarizing the key points of the play

2. On Thursday, we kicked off the "American Dream" project in small groups.  Students spent the Pd on Part 1

3. Tomorrow students will continue their assignment and move towards their new "campaigns"


Day 18-20: September 22-26, 2016

1. The year is 10% over, and a half day at that.  Still, there's plenty to do.

2. Today we analyzed the "Act 2" elements of the the Raisin film

3. Students took a careful look at setting, and director's choices in close-ups and shot angles.


Day 15-17: September 19-21, 2016

1. Today we debated how legitimate (or harmful) stereotypes can be

2. Students found stereotype examples in Raisin in the Sun and compared quotes

3. With remaining time, we read Act 2, Scene 2 on Monday, and 2-3 on Tuesday


Day 13-14: September 15-16, 2016

1. Today we debated the meaning of money and continued to read A Raisin in the Sun

2. Any time left between today and tomorrow will be spent wrapping up the study guide.

​3. Just one day left until the Huddle takes the field for the inaugural home game!


Day 10-12: September 12-14, 2016

1. Today we wrapped up Act 1 and spent some time reflecting on the study guide and characters

2. Tomorrow we'll compare/contrast our reading with the film version.

3. By Wednesday, we'll be back in business with the reading!


Day 7-9: September 7-9, 2016

1. Today we finally had a discussion over all the content from the past few days.

2. We analyzed American history, the American dream, and talked about what makes a person tick.

3. On Thursday we finally cracked open Raisin in the Sun ​and started reading.


Day 5-6: September 2-6, 2016

1. Today we discussed the question "what happens to a dream deferred?"

2. Students responded to a question in their journals,and then discussed in pairs

3. Finally, students submitted a WSQ for the first video of the year.


Day 3-4: August 31-September 1, 2016

1. The final day of August is in the books!  We're moving on to a new month tomorrow.

2. Today we took a look at poems (Pd 2) and images (Pd 6).  We'll flip-flop tomorrow

3. Friday is almost here...we'll finally be jumping into our first big unit!


Day 2: August 30, 2016

1. Today we completed a little bit more self-analysis.  What really makes us tick?

2. In groups, we decided to arrive at a common theme between everyone; what brings us together?

3. Tomorrow, we'll warm up by analyzing some images and talking about ideas.
