1. Finals on Wednesday and Thursday including English/Science followed by Math/Social Studies.

2. Be sure to turn books in ASAP if you have not done so already.

Day 178-179: June 3-4, 2013

1. On Monday, we played a review Jeopardy game of all the key terms for the final.

2. Tuesday was an open-ended review for all students.  Bring your books, or other material to wrap up your studying.

3. Start hunting for those textbooks.  They'll be collected tomorrow!


Day 174-177: May 28-31, 2013

1. This week was dedicated to watching Inherit the Wind.  With a brief introduction on Tuesday, the film lasted the remainder of the week.

2. Students were given a bonus chance in which they could write a brief essay on the theme of the play/film.  It will be due June 3.

3. Begin studying for finals!  (Re)learn the terms on the attached study guide.  Almost there....

1. On Thursday, we finished up presentations for the Antigone Project and started preparation for the final in-class essay.

Day 169-171: May 17,20,22, 2013

1. Over the past three days, groups have been presenting the Antigone Tragedy Projects where they adapted a classic story into a the Greek style tragedy.

2. Make sure all groups are prepared and organized to give a great performance.  The more rehearsed, the better!

Day 165-168: May 13-16, 2013

1. In our shortened schedule, we finished listening to the rest of Antigone, Sc. 5 and the Exodus.  Have Study Guide questions done for tomorrow.

2. Tomorrow through Thursday will be practice for Antigone presentations.  Projects begin on Friday.

3. Less than four weeks remain.  Hang in there....


Day 162-164: May 8-10, 2013

1. Today began the great Antigone Tragedy Project.  Students had to convert existing stories into the Greek Tragedy format.

2. Click here, here, and here for some examples of what Greek tragedies looked like when performed live. 

3. We will have a few days next week to rehearse projects.  Presentations will begin Friday, May 17.

4. Sc. 1-2 Quiz was given on Friday.  Continue reading over the weekend and prepare for a Sc. 3-4 study guide check on Monday.

Day 161: May 7, 2013

1. Today we finished Sc. 1-2 and discussed natural imagery.

2. If you've ever wondered why nature is used so often in literature.... test out The Office "Survivor Man!"

3. Papers are due tomorrow.  Share them, send them, print them...do whatever you must, but get them in!



Day 160: May 6, 2013

1. Today we began Antigone, the final unit of the year.  In class, we listened to the Prologue and started Scene 1.

2. For tomorrow, finish pg. 974 and questions 1-5 in the study guide.  Be prepared for another action-packed day tomorrow.

3. Keep working on papers.  Final copies due on Wednesday.

Day 156-158: April 29- May 1

1. On Monday-Wednesday, the class spent time draft papers using either Google Drive or by hand.  Drafts are due on Thursday preferably typed. 

2. Remember, the final draft is due next Wednesday.  This is a rather condensed timeline compared to normal.

1. Today we read and selected literary criticism articles for the final paper of the year.  Remember, you don't need to read all of them, just pick one.

2. Students took notes on the article and brainstormed possible paper topics.  

3. Vocabulary Quiz 17 on Friday and Prewriting continued.  Have everything ready for drafting Monday...

Day 153: April 24, 2013

1. Today we finished the Julius Caesar movie and check over study guides.  If absent at all this week, tomorrow is the last day to submit them.

2. Tomorrow we begin the Caesar paper.  We will be reading possible articles and brainstorming thesis statement ideas.

3. Don't forget Vocabulary Quiz 17 on Friday!


Day 151-152: April 22-23, 2013

1. On Monday and Tuesday of this week, we completed Julius Caesar Act IV and V.

2. For Wednesday, prepare for a quiz on each act and begin thinking of a possible paper topic.

3. Congratulations on surviving another Shakespeare show!!


Day 149-150: April 18-19, 2013

1. For the remainder of the week in class, we discussed the events from Act III, Sc.1 and worked through Sc. 2 together.

2. Key issues covered include the use of Propaganda in the two dueling speeches and searching for the tragic hero...

3. Remember to submit ads via the website by Friday.


Day 148: April 17, 2013

1. Today was a working day.  Students had the option of continuing with Julius Caesar Act III OR creating their propaganda project.

2. Tomorrow, Act III, Sc. 1 must be completed as we will be continuing with the play together.

3. Keep working on the Ads.  Final copies are due Friday along with your propaganda explanations.

1. Today in class, we learned about the various propaganda techniques used to control society.

2. Students watched and analyzed existing commercials for elements of propaganda.

Day 143-144: April 10-11, 2013

1. Today we discussed the major events from Act I including the four major characters: Brutus, Cassius, Caesar, and Antony

2. For the remainder of the time, students read/listened to the Act II videos and completed the study guide.

3.  For Friday, all students should have finished Act II, be ready for a quiz, and complete all study guide questions. 


Day 142: April 9, 2013

1. Today in class, we continued with Act 1, Sc. 2 and 3.  For this unit, we used the Shakespeare in Bits Videos.

2. Act 1 Questions are due tomorrow.  We will be continuing Act II in the computer lab.

3. Don't forget your headphones...otherwise you're stuck with the gross ones.

1. Today in class we reviewed prior knowledge about Shakespeare and his style of plays.
