The World of the Anglo-Saxons

Ancient Anglo-Saxon Helmet

This course takes us on a journey through the history of England.  We begin with the oldest story ever recorded in the English Language:  Beowulf.

In order to understand Beowulf, we must understand that time period in which is was written.  Who are the Anglos, Saxons, and Jutes?  How was their life different from ours today?

Below are materials used in class which discuss that elements of this society.
