Another key component to the Restoration was Satire. Making fun of the problems in society just got a whole lot funnier.
Writers like Jonathan Swift and Alexander Pope mocked the foibles of English society and customs through their works, such as Gulliver's Travels, The Rape of the Lock, and A Modest Proposal.

1. For each set of videos below, watch and decide what is being "attacked" through this satire?
2. What type of satire is being used? Horatian, Juvenalian, or both?
3. For some examples, I have included the original version so you can find the differences. Some of the originals are almost so ridiculous that you cannot tell the difference.
