The most impressive part of the ski-resort though isn't the mountains, nor the lodge, nor the snack bar. It's the chair lift. The chair lift does the thankless job of taking everyone to the top of the hill while the downhill slope gets all the glory. Even though I'll be heading off to ski with the students and having a good time, it's Ms. Landy who put this whole thing together and deserves the credit. It's not easy to be the chairlift, but always worth it in the end.
In other news, today is Valentine's Day. I suppose I should have known that in advance but every year it catches me off guard. Suddenly, the hallway is filled with red clothes, chocolate, flower, and teddy bears. And this is coming from someone who can't even see red! I hope those choosing to participate in Valentine's Day culture are doing it because they want to and not due to social pressure. If you spend money just because you think you're "supposed" to...then Big Valentine, Big TeddyBear, Big Chocolate, and Big Flowers all win (those are names of imaginary corporations).
Tonight the girls basketball teams takes on Shaler at NA in their first playoff game. While I can't make it there tonight, I'm confident they'll have a winning performance and live to play another day. Best of luck!
