...Ok so obviously the event isn't happening on the field itself, and I'm not sure if it's truly the biggest dance ever, but it's still a big deal for this class. I remember when I went to my class's prom 8 years ago that the best part wasn't the food, the location, the dancing, or the snacks, but the fact that it was one last big event for the entire group. It could have been hosted anywhere, but the people are what made it work. And no, I haven't seen most of those people since, which retroactively makes the night an even bigger deal. Now as a teacher, it's great to go back for three reasons: 1) I finally get to explore the suite levels of Heinz Field, 2) I hear there's a cheese fountain, and 3) it's nice to see the students happy to be somewhere for a change. Teaching high school, you'd be forgiven if you thought 18 year olds were miserable all the time, but at the formals and big events they finally get to be themselves.
I'll hopefully have some images tomorrow (though sadly no tweets tonight) as we cap off May and get ready for the Final Week of the year!
