While this was all fun, the most entertaining aspect was the "yinzer Stiller" fans circling the event. As much I like the Steelers or Pirates, there's an even higher level of fandom that some of these people possess. These are the people wearing the same Starter jackets from 1995. These are the fans who scream "Go Stillers, we're going to smash them stinkin' Dirty Birds tomorra!!" to absolutely no one in the middle of downtown. These are the fans who see a picture of a player from a different team and freak out. If it's all an act...just people having a good time, then it's fine...but I suspect for many it's completely genuine. I wonder what leads someone to that level of undignified devotion. I wonder how they recover when the team inevitably loses. It's almost as if they're such passionate Steelers fans, they're filled with rage-like jubilation at all times in support of their team. They love the Steelers so much, they hate them...and perhaps vice-versa.
But hey, at least they're on our side. Let's hope we have another three of these rallies to attend over the month. I may not be yelling in the streets...but here we go Steelers none the less!
