Yet, as a number of us met today at a co-worker's retirement party, a long-time veteran shared some solid words of advice: things are always ok, because it's always about the people. Despite the challenges that might come along in the next few weeks or months, the core group of people (teachers, secretaries, staff) are still in place. The students will come and go, we'll do the best job we can, and the year will be a success nonetheless. There might be a few things that "could have been better" or things we wish would have been different, but with the same core group of people in place, it'll be just fine. I might not always agree with my co-workers, but I've seen enough of them to know that, through just about anything, they're the people who can make it happen.
There's still one final day of in-service tomorrow, and then it's just a long weekend until everything starts up for real. Let's hope The People can get ready in time.
