Part of me logically knows that it's just sports, it's just entertainment, and it's largely a scheme to separate me from my money so I should probably take it easy when it comes to buying the merchandise, getting the Championship documentary, watching the games over and over on iTunes, etc. The best thing to do would be get a small trinket, get a copy of the newspaper, and call it a day. After all, it's not like sports are "real" compared to all the big issues going on in the world.
But then there's another part of me that wonders...did I just witness the last Pittsburgh championship of my lifetime? I have no reason to suspect so...but then again, no one ever does. The 1908 Cubs fans surely didn't think they would ALL DIE before the Cubs managed to win another World Series (and they still haven't contrary on ESPN's 2016 coronation back in April). Cleveland probably didn't think they've be waiting 52 years since the they've won...anything, and even the Penguins fans in 2009 likely didn't think it would take quite so long before Sidney Crosby came back for a second title. The obvious point...you never know when (as a city) we'll be back here, so maybe it's ok to go all-in for a couple of days. It might seem silly in hindsight, especially if there's another championship soon...but that's a good problem to have.
