It's an interesting concept that is often mentioned about people; a complete lack of empathy. A sick/injured/disabled person can barely imagine what it's like not to be sick...while a well person can't imagine not being well. Even only a year later, it's hard to comprehend or sympathize with my past self for having to wear that boot around for weeks and weeks. And at the time, I couldn't understand how I had once ran multiple marathons. Despite the clear memories and logical evidence, the empathy, even with myself, is hard to come by. Ask someone who's really hot or really cold if they can imagine the temperate being flipped on them. They'll be hard pressed to figure it out.
Needless to say, I'm thankful my foot as made a strong recovery and is just a few weeks away from another race. Hopefully the broken foot thing was one time adventure...otherwise I'll once again be dumbfounded about how I ever "forgot" about walking on one foot.
