I bring this up because as I read social media and the internet at large today, it seems that rule has gone largely out the window. It would seem that in their haste to condemn a certain Republican candidate, thousands of liberals (and even some conservatives) have found it accurate, appropriate, and logical compare said-candidate to the former dictator from Germany. Now, I normally keep this blog free of politics, and I don't plan on supporting or defending any specific candidates today...but I feel compelled to call out everyone currently invoking Hitler...as losers of the internet's number-one rule. You might dislike a candidate. You might find him or her completely reprehensible in his/her character or policies. You might think that the candidates followers are mindless, and you might think that "hate" is the fuel behind the other side's rise.
But the Number One Rule of the Internet is still in effect. Whoever invokes Hitler first...loses.
You might have valid reasons to support or attack a presidential candidate. But please, leave Hitler out of it. There's thousands of better ways to make your case.
