Again, just to clarify, students have the option to work on any assignment on any given day. I encourage Macbeth work on Monday, Wednesday-Friday, and the 20% assignment on Tuesday, but it's only on Tuesday that lots of work seems to get done. Functionally, there's the same expectation, but the delivery is different. On the normal weekdays it's "you'd better be working on Macbeth", while on Tuesdays its "hey, it's all you". Could it be that all days should be like that?
I'm not quite ready to go there just yet and make the entire class a free-for-all but there's some definite trends I've seen over the past few weeks. Just when I think I'm creating a situation in which very little work is getting done, students manage to get the most work done as possible. Is this an isolated incident, or something to replicate? That...we may never know.
