Today was one of those pleasant surprises where a seemingly boring Saturday ends up being a grand tour of Baldwin events. It started with an impromptu visit to the Polar Plunge crew down by the Heinz Field, continued with a trip to BHS to announce the girls' varsity game, and continued into the evening as I'm about to venture to PPG plaza to listen to the Baldwinaires perform. Days like this really give you just a sample of the wide scope any school community has to offer, rather than seeing the English classroom perspective from five days a week. Students I might only have passing familiarity with in the hallways have much more to offer than their grades and behavior when you seem them in context at the extracurriculars. No championships were won today, and no records set...but it was simply a solid day were I got to appreciate that Baldwin, actually, is all around. The snow and ice might be hiding, and Christmas might to sluggish to get off the ground, but the Baldwin community is getting the whole city into the Spirit of the Season.
