Of course, it didn't take long for people to realize something: deleted scenes were deleted for a reason. They're not always terrible...but usually I found myself thinking "wait, that's it?" or "but that information was already revealed" or "wow, this really makes the ending drag out". The film was put together not just as a random collection of content, but as a carefully orchestrated work with rises and falls, highs and lows, and clear ending. The deleted scenes are fun for a few seconds, but then you realize your original favorite film is a bit less. It probably should have ended the way it originally did.
If the school year were a movie, today would be a deleted scene. With my students all gone. I find myself realizing that maybe my year should have ended yesterday as well. It's nice to get a little more time to prep the room for the summer; but the original ending was better.
