The message, of course, was how important it is to seize the day while you're here in the high school setting. As tempting as it might be to go home and lay around on the couch, its important to dip your toe into as many waters as you can before you head out into the "real" world (and of course, college isn't "real" either but it's a step in that direction). There's a lot more freedom, but the responsibility comes rights along with it.
Even my seniors now, as they give their farewell addresses, all say that they wish they had done more. Let's hope some underclassmen heard these words of wisdom today and improve themselves before time runs out.
