The good news? With only 36 days of school left on the calendar, it won't be long before the power structure isn't as relevant with this crew and we can interact on a more equitable level...especially with those entering the education field. At the very least, the students will stop asking me if they can use the bathroom. Despite being eighteen, they keep asking...
It was strange jumping back into work today. After a great Lip Dub session Friday, a conference on Saturday, and a few days off Sunday and Monday, it was as though there was a level of transcendence with some students. Perhaps a bit dramatic but as all the the events came together, and as the seniors approach graduation, I felt like the students and I were much more on an equal plane as they were the producers in creating Friday's event, and we all participated collaboratively on Saturday. Today, however, the original power structures returned. It was like a scene out of Admirable Creighton when the crew is rescued and suddenly everything reverts to the old class system.
