In other words, I'm sharing apps tomorrow. I don't suppose there's anything wrong with that, but it's continuing the trend of "haves and have-nots" They'll be those who know about technology who dole out their wisdom to the non-tech crowd, who then meddle with their new crumbs of information in hopes of replicating what's come before. This whole EdTech thing is great, but it's very mislabeled. These should simply be pedagogy conversations, and the technology can be inserted when and if it's needed. I like sharing what I know, but I can't help but feel like my audience tomorrow will see past the charade. They'll want to know why they need a better pencil.
I'm putting together a presentation for a professional development session I'm leading tomorrow...and I'm uneasy in my preparation. While I usually talk about Gamification or the Flipped Classroom model, tomorrow I'm being asked to speak more specifically about a few apps and sites. I've been told that my target audience is more hesitant to using technology and I should stick to just a few tools that might actually help them, rather than some pedagogical paradigm shifts which will be at best confusing and at worst scary. I am getting to speak on "flipping" a little bit, but only as far as introducing the concept, and sharing some video sharing tools.
