Not only that, but it stopped raining today. So yes, it's a literal calm before the storm as the rains are supposed to pick up again very soon. The good news is that I was finally able to mow the grass...but also I was finally able to transcribe my student interviews for my dissertation project. While the dictation software helped out a lot, transcribing is just as terrible as it sounds. Not only do you have to listen to yourself on tape for hours, but you have to record every single "um", "like" "well" "but" and "::pause" in the final script. No matter how well spoken you think you are, if you read a transcription of your conversation, you just end up looking silly. Next week I'm hoping to process my video data, and start writing Ch. 4 and 5 the following week. It's coming together...slowly.
Well, with that it's time to get back out to the graduation parties. There's a storm coming.
