Sadly, for us, there is no sun. Or rather, there is no warm sun available for at least a few more months. We can squint all we want but the frostbite won't be nearly as satisfying. How then are we to achieve the best feeling in the world like these sunbathing dogs? In fact, for humans, what is the best feeling in the world?
The debate ranges quite a bit on this issue. Some say it's taking off uncomfortable shoes after wearing them all day. Other's argue that a really good sneeze can be one of the best feelings, or maybe it's finally realizing you've finished your "to-do" list. While these are all excellent, they don't really compare to the real best-feeling-in-the-world. What is it?
I would say undoubtedly, the best feeling in the world is waking up, fully expecting the get out of bed and start the day, only to realize you still have another 4 hours to sleep. It requires no movement, nor money, nor work...just a glance at the watch, a shift of the internal stress levels, and you're right back to sleep. Unexpected sleep time is probably as good as it gets.
So yes, today was a return to work, and yes, it was far too cold to enjoy a face full of sun like these happy dogs but; if you're two-hour-delayed in PA like the rest of us, you may just have experienced that best feeling in the world (i.e. two extra hours of sleep). And if not, well, just set your alarm needlessly early to 3 am tomorrow...
