For my doctoral study, I collected data this past spring on my 8th period CP English 12 class including interviews and video data. My interviews are now fully transcribed, and now I’ve been pouring through my video recordings. I’ve found lots of positives I never realized were happening, as well as some negatives I missed. Actually, it’s sort of fun watching these old classes in action. Even though everyone is now graduated and will never again be students, they’ll always remain English students in these videos. Sadly, the videos are confidential so I can’t ever some them to anyone, but it’s been an interesting day.
Today is also a big day for me as my wife and I celebrate our fourth anniversary. I hesitate to even mention it…mainly because 4 is a boring number, and I should really just wait for Number 5, but I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone. Even though she’s away this week on a super secret Symposium in Fort Wayne, I have to say I couldn’t have made it this far without her. It’s been a crazy year as I’ve been invested in my dissertation, game-based class, and blog, while she’s been logging hundreds of hours to finish up her counseling degree (only 25 to go!) but we’re almost finished. She’s been a huge support through everything. (If you think my blog “observations” are bad, you don’t know the half of it.) Happy Anniversary! Four More Years!
