Day 135-137: March 25-27, 2013

1. This short three-day week marks the end of the third nine weeks.  Only one quarter to go!

2. This week we finished all research, and notecards for Wednesday.

Day 130-134: March 18-22, 2013

1. This week was dedicated to finding at least fifty notes to back up your thesis.

2. Remember to look for themes, symbols, background, and other opinions.  If you find something you like, look for more of it!

3. Next Monday we return to the classroom and begin piecing together this final project.

1. Today we started searching for and creating citations using EasyBib and the Research Handbook.

2. Bibliographies are due at the end of the day on Friday...don't forget to cite all chapters.

Day 126: March 12, 2013

Picture
1. Today, we finished if presentations (if needed) and took the research test.

2. Novels must be read (not just the Sparknotes) with an understanding of characters, conflicts, themes.

3. Tomorrow we return to the library to begin finding sources and taking notes.


Day 125: March 11, 2013

1. Today is the beginning of the end...the Library research project!

2. Mrs. Hannah gave her insight on tips and trick for the library.

3. Be sure your book is read for the test tomorrow.  Buy those notecards or set up a Google account by Wednesday.


Day 122-124: March 6-8, 2013

1. Wednesday through Friday, students gave presentations for their satire projects.  All students should be ready at anytime.


2. Projects are evaluated as per the rubric on step 3 of the Project.  Be sure you've checked your packet!


3. Don't forget about the research novels either.  They must be read by Tuesday.


Day 115-121: February 25-March 5, 2013

1. This week was dedicated to working on the satire project.  Monday and Tuesday were dedicated to the planning while Wednesday through Friday was spent creating in the labs.

2.  Final products due next week.  For possible web tools, click here!

3. Don't forget to keep working on those novels.  They'll be due March 8.


Day 113-114: February 21-22, 2013

1. Today we started work on the Satire Projects.  Groups were formalized, and people started work on topic selection.

2.  Topics and methods are due next week.  It is advised you get this done as soon as possible.

3. Friday we continue work on these projects.  Stay in touch with your groups in case you...find yourself absent.

1. Today we discussed the nature of politics and how it often is used to achieve secretive ends.

2. Afterwards, students read "A Modest Proposal" by Jonathan Swift and looked for examples of satire.

Day 111: February 19, 2013

1. Today in class we looked at mock epic examples in the media today and began to read "The Rape of the Lock"

2. The poem should be read by tomorrow, though many students likely finished it in class.  Be sure to complete the corresponding handout.

Day 109-110: February 14-15, 2013

1. Today is Valentine's Day...but it doesn't matter because we have a quiz on your work so far this week.

2. With remaining time, we went over the results of your three days of work and discussed the Macbeth Papers.

3.  Writing Roulette begins at 2:25pm Friday.  Feel free to take more time...but move quickly.  Reading Day in preparation for your Research novels.  They must be completed by March 1, 2013.

Day 101: February 4, 2013

1. Today we moved on from Macbeth and started into the Restoration Unit.  Step 1: Satire!

2. In-class, we used the handout below and this webpage to learn about examples of satire. (Only pg. 1-2)

2. Students had time to work on prewriting and read over the background articles.

1. Today we had a quiz on Act III of Macbeth.  If you were absent, you will need to make it up tomorrow.  It's on you!

2. Afterwards, we completed a lottery for Research books.  The list will be posted later.

3. Start working on Act IV.  It will be due on Thursday.  You will have time in class tomorrow to work on it.
