Of course this isn't limited to movies and acting...it applies to all creative fields including this blog. There's been many times I started an entry with a solid concept but the words never quite matched my original meaning. Artists often belittle their work, no matter how impressed friends and family may be, because it doesn't match what they hoped it would be. Creation is exciting, but also disappointing most of the time. It's rare we meet or surpass our original aspirations.
Today we started screening student videos, and for many, the this notion of "killing their movies as they made them" rings true. This doesn't mean the movies weren't good (in fact many were excellent) but you could tell that some groups remained a bit perturbed they didn't get to put their real vision into action. They knew that this was the best version they could produce in the real world...but there's a more perfect version of the film out there in the ether...just waiting.
