This weekend, I shared a story of my own capricious trip to the Capital to run around the National Mall, see the monuments, and visit a museum or two. Between the driving, the running, the visiting, it took almost all day, but it was a solid day trip of some historical and patriotic material.
As a teacher of all seniors, I encouraged them to seek out their own minor adventures. Drive somewhere close but far for the day. See things while you still have a bit of freedom. There are certainly more sensible things to do, but if you have the time...go for it.
