While winning a "major award" is always fun, what I'm really excited about is the chance to reach out to more teachers and districts across the country. Most of my work has been very localized towards my CP English 12 curriculum, but there are many more opportunities for blended, flipped, and game-based learning that I'll never have the time or chance to teach. This program can hopefully spread some of those ideas so others can add to these ideas. One of the biggest challenges in instructional technology is converting the theoretical into the practical. It's one thing to tell a group of teachers they can use a bag full of tools in order to make new and exciting lessons...but quite another to actually make it happen.
Additionally, it will be exciting to see what the rest of the country is up to. Attending PA conferences over the past few years has led to many new contacts, but I know it's just scratching the surface. Being able to build off of other projects with some of my own strengths will open many new concepts I haven't even considered. And yes, this post does border on the hyperbolic but I think there's a lot of truth in it as well.
I'll keep the blog posted with more details. Until then, here goes nothing.
