Today was a red letter day, not only for me personally but the whole gamification movement I've been working on for the past year. After getting a chance to learn the basic concepts at last year's PETE&C, make them a reality back home, and then present on my findings, it's all come full circle. I was thrilled with this morning's turnout. It's not easy to wake up for a presentation at 8 am on the final day of the conference but at least 30+ people made it to the session. They all had excellent questions and I can't wait to see what they come up with over the next year.
The best part of the any of the conference sessions is not the presentations themselves, but the conversations you get to have before and afterwards. I had a chance to connect with another English teacher, @techielit, following my presentation who's also using the 3D Game Lab over in Philadelphia. I'm excited to read over her materials and hopefully add them into my curriculum later this year and beyond. Perhaps they'll even be the possibility of some joint questing!
Thanks again to everyone who made it to the session today. Enjoy using the site and it's resources, and please share what you come up with. This is still all very new and there's tons of untapped possibilities. Check back on the blog from time to time to see what new things are being tried at Baldwin.
That being said, it is good to be home. It'll be nice to get back in the classroom tomorrow and get back to real life.
