Of course, that's why I know it's fake. Almost every single long race, there's a serious of "injuries" that only show up on the last day. Based on the past 11 times, they'll all disappear by the time the big show arrives on Sunday. Perhaps it's my body's way to trying to talk me out of running 26.2. Perhaps I'm becoming too self-reflective and I'm finally problems that don't exist. Perhaps your brain simply creates the problems that you look for. Either way, I have a hunch my toe, heel, and sniffles will be just fine in 72 hours.
In the meantime, it's time to keep hydrating and tracking down all the carbs I can. Getting hungry mid-race is one side-effect that is not just in my head.
