Of course, some things have changed, at least with me, in the past year or so. I've become a little disillusioned by some of these conferences as they seem to spout the same sermons to the choir over and over again. The attendees, while nice, are often not teachers, but instructional coaches and technology directors, meaning there's little chance for real conversation on teaching. Many ideas presented at these things are old, as people put presentations months ago based on work they did a year beforehand. Will this huge national conference lead to more innovative ideas, or will it be the same thing over and over again? The next four days will determine if ISTE is a showcase for yesterday's ideas, or a launching pad of tomorrow's. I'll have a full review once the conference is complete.
With that, it's time to board the train to Philadelphia bright and early tomorrow morning. They'll be a lot to explore.
