One question I find myself asking, though, is will there be anything new this year? I'm looking through the program and most of the sessions seem similar to what I've seen the past two years. There's a presentation on flipping the classroom (many in fact), there's a few on STEM, at least a dozen on how to use iPads and Google Apps, and one or two about Gamification, Project-based learning, and "passion-based" education. I'm sure they're new to someone...but they seem like basically the same thing we saw last year. Will we see more informed takes on these topics, or is this simply more people jumping on the bandwagon. With the way technology works, the "new" elements expire quickly.
But all of that is a conversation for tomorrow. For now, it's time to see who's back from last year, catch up with some conference friends, and get rested for the super busy next three days. (I should probably prepare my presentation as well....)
